How to transfer or share airtime on MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile
Send airtime from your line to a friend or family member on any network — the codes, the default PINs, and the limits.
Need to send a little credit to a friend, your child's line, or a second phone? Every Nigerian network lets you transfer (share) airtime from your line to another using a USSD code and a transfer PIN. Here's how to do it on each network — and an easier way to top up anyone.
Before you start
- You can only share airtime within the same network (MTN to MTN, Airtel to Airtel, and so on).
- Each network gives you a default transfer PIN — change it to your own before you send.
- Typical limits are ₦50 to ₦5,000 per transfer, on a registered (NIN-linked) line.
MTN — "MTN Share"
- Transfer: dial
*321*recipient number*amount*PIN#(e.g.*321*080XXXXXXXX*500*0000#). Dialing*321#alone opens the menu. - Default PIN:
0000 - Change your PIN:
*321*old PIN*new PIN*new PIN# - Limits: ₦50–₦5,000 per transfer, up to ₦50,000 a day. Sharing is free.
Airtel — "Me2U"
- Transfer: dial
*432#and follow the menu. - Default PIN:
1234(change it from the PIN-management option). - Limits: from ₦50 per transfer. Sharing is free.
Glo — "EasyShare"
- Transfer: dial
*131*recipient number*amount*PIN#(e.g.*131*070XXXXXXXX*200*00000#).*131#opens the EasyShare menu. - Default PIN:
00000(Glo uses a 5-digit PIN). - Change your PIN:
*132*old PIN*new PIN*new PIN# - Glo may apply a small per-transfer fee.
9mobile — Airtime Transfer
- Transfer: dial
*321*PIN*amount*recipient number#— note 9mobile puts the PIN first (e.g.*321*0000*200*090XXXXXXXX#). - Default PIN:
0000 - Change your PIN:
*247*old PIN*new PIN#
Networks have been standardising their USSD codes, so if a code doesn't work, dial the network's menu code (e.g.
*321#) and follow the prompts, or check your network's official app.
The easier way: top up anyone directly
